This morning we interviewed Bob Gustafson from Grandma's Marathon and talked about events that will take place next week. We got more information about Michelina's all you can eat spaghetti dinner, the whipper snapper races, and live entertainment at the tents!
The tasty tradition of carb-loading before the big day is set for yet another year. Race participants, family, and friends are invited to enjoy a meal of spaghetti, salad, and other goodies being served in Pioneer Hall at the DECC from 11 am to 9 pm on Friday, June 21.
It makes you wonder what they'll come up with next! It sounds and looks delectable, but can you imagine the calories? Of course, if you are training for Grandma's Marathon, you just might need the extra carbs and you can run off the extra calories, however, there is an easier way to carb-load for the race.
My co-worker and resident food snob Steve Tanko keeps telling me to quit buying canned Alfredo sauce. My point has always been it is so much easier and quick to boil up noodles and add the sauce.
However, Fabio here demonstrates a way to cook shrimp alfredo with a lighter sauce. He says Alfredo in America is too heavy. I tend to agree with him, so I may try this one of these nights.
I think that we have too many choices nowadays. It's not that I'm for the communist, "This is what you'll get!" approach, but come on. Isn't this a little ridiculous? I couldn't even step back far enough to fit all of the choices in the picture!
