Police were looking for the 14-year-old girl after her family reported her missing and found her shortly after she had escaped from her attacker.

Responding officers found a young man suffering from apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds at the scene.

A news release says the lives were lost over the course of two separate but connected shootings.

Officials said Sunday afternoon the threat against mall employees, shoppers and residents in the area had subsided.

The violent crime cases do not appear to be related.

A suspect was apprehended at the scene.

The victim suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim was 33 years old.

KROC News has learned one of the slain officers used to live in Wabasha County.

Tributes have begun pouring in from law enforcement agencies across southeast Minnesota and beyond.

They were arrested on Friday.

All three of the men involved are in their 20’s.
