Service Learning

Cathy and I visited Brenda Sederberg's 3rd grade class yesterday to deliver another $400 Service Learning check from Maurice's.  Her class is doing a service learning project where they are tackling a problem within their school.

Congratulations to this week's Service Learning Northland award winner Ann Kucinski!  Ann is a Spanish teacher at Denfeld, who is having her class become pen pals with Spanish speaking students in a Chicago school.  The money will be used to purchase books written in Spanish for the students to read.

Congratulations to Heather Hren and her Kindergarten class, the most recent receipts of the Service Learning Northland Award of $200 from maurices.  Her kindergarten class and other first graders in Hermantown put on a health and wellness fair to allow families, students, and community to learn from agencies and volunteers about healthy habits...

Congratulations to Mr. Paul David, Kindergarten Instructor at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School.  They are the recipient of B105's first maurices $200 grant for Service Learning. The kids have learned why trees are vital to the environment and will plant their seedling trees today!  I think it's fantastic that kids this age are learning about the ecosystem and Carbon Cycle.  Here's more on t
