Adam Lorch and Jennifer Austin took time out of their busy schedule to join us for a couple of hours in our St. Jude Radiothon this morning.   You know them of course as our morning news partners, and today they partnered up to raise money for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research hospital.

Facebook was buzzing with a story of a gun threat called in to Lincoln Park Middle School and the kid was in the school, it scared a lot of people fast because of other shootings around the nation, directly from Northland's News Center our media partner and the Duluth Police Department, here is what is going on.

Government shutdowns are confusing, and we haven't dealt with one in nearly 20 years.   Locally, a lot of people have been asking questions about what services are still provided by the government.

Somehow I stumbled on this on youtube and just had to share.  It's fun to take a trip down memory lane, and this will bring you back 22 years to 1991 where Duluth was just finishing up the lakewalk.  To highlight grand opening events, they came up with "Luke Lakewalker" Star Wars promos.  It's ridiculously funny.

The United States Postal Service has been losing money for years, but they have a plan they would love to implement later this year that could help save money.  With government approval, they would stop delivering the mail on Saturdays.

We've just received word from our partners at Northland's News Center that there is potential for snow at the end of this week, especially north of the Twin Ports area.

It may not be illegal to swim in Lake Superior when the winds are strong and the waves are raging, but it certainly is putting your life at risk.  I remember growing up and hearing my parents telling me to respect Lake Superior as it is so dangerous.  We've already had one young person perish in the lake this year, now we almost had a second.

Seeing how tourism is crucial to the economy of Duluth, it would make sense to spend money on a tourism ad campaign since people across the country last saw us as a flooded mess.  Our partners at the Northland's News Center are reporting that the City Council will vote Monday night on whether to allow community leaders to allocate up to $75,000 to the city's tourism arm "Visit Duluth"

I was hoping that when I updated the story of the young man who was submerged in Lake Superior for 32 minutes Monday, it would be to report of his miraculous recovery.  Sadly, that is not the case.

Just Saturday I was with my family in Canal Park and as we saw a large group of kids swimming at 'The Cribs, that big concrete structure not far off shore.  I thought to myself, that water has to be cold and as I watched kids jump in I hoped they'd be okay with no lifeguards at that location. So sad to find out that on Monday a young boy jumped in, never surfaced, and that it wasn't until 32 minut

Last week it was announced that there will be an Anchorman sequel, Ron Burgundy said so- so it must be true!  Immediately people rushed to Facebook and Twitter to express their joy at the news.  I was overjoyed as well.  I loved the original Anchorman...
