Mayor Don Ness

I'm excited about this book!  I have tried to journal in the past and it goes well for a couple of days and then I become a slacker.  Mayor Don Ness should be commended to have found the time within his busy work and family life to write this book.  I'm looking forward to his words catapulting me back to memories of our city I may have forgotten.

There were 12 candidates vying for the Mayoral position when Don Ness was elected as Mayor of Duluth in 2007. When I got my first job at the Wrenshall School pool I rode my bike to work on a SUPER hilly, loose graveled Alcohol Road (yes, that is the actual name of the road).  Not because I was "green" or I enjoyed the exercise.  It was because my mom worked and if I wanted the job it was bike or walk.  Where was National Bike to Work Day then?

Bentleyville had 15,000 visitors the first Saturday it opened and it will be open through the end of December of thousands more to enjoy.  It's free to get in, but of course all the electricity, free treats and merriment doesn't come without cost and that's why the Greater Downtown Council has found a fantastic way to commemorate Bentleyville and raise some funds.

According to a statement released by Twin Cities Business Magazine, congratulations are in order for Duluth Mayor Don Ness.  He has been honored as Twin Cities Business Magazine’s 2013 Person of the Year. Yet another reason to be a proud Duluthian!  Congratulations Mayor Ness!!!

A year ago today, community members found themselves shellshocked by the extensive damage that followed intense rainfall overnight June 19-20, 2012. In the year since the flood, much progress has been made, but as Duluth Mayor Don Ness says, there is still a long road ahead in achieving full recovery for the city.

Duluth Mayor Don Ness has accomplished a lot since he took office, but who would've thought that dancing would be included in his achievements?

Mayor Don Ness welcomed some very special guests to City Hall today, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, they are in town for the first ever appearance of 'Disney on Ice' in Duluth and to celebrate the Mayor declared today 'Disney on Ice' Day in the city.

Other than a few possible morning showers Saturday, the weather this weekend isn't too bad.  Why not take a drive to Enger Park in Duluth to see some amazing views from the brand new gazebo.

Residents should stay away from streams, culverts, and standing water. Never underestimate the power of moving water. Children should be supervised and remain away from all water at this time.
