As news of the death of Little Jimmy Dickens spread through Nashville on Friday (Jan. 2), the Grand Ole Opry took time to dedicate their weekly show to the iconic country entertainer and pay tribute to his legacy.
Little Jimmy Dickens has returned to the Grand Ole Opry. The 92-year-old was absent from most Opry performances in 2013, announcing in June that he needed three weeks to recover from radiation treatments to his vocal chords. Recently, he stood in the circle once again.
Little Jimmy Dickens, one of the Grand Ole Opry's most recognizable stars since he became a member in 1948, will continue to miss shows as he undergoes radiation treatments on his vocal cords. A release from the Opry says the treatments are for a pre-cancerous condition.
