My friend Tyler and his family have been through a lot in the last few months. After a complicated surgery, Tyler lost the ability to walk. He and his family really could use help getting back on their feet.
Earlier this week we covered the Solon Springs Lion's Club Ice Fishing contest and got to see some pretty nice ice houses! Now here's the rest with a visit to the other side of the lake. There was some pretty deep snow on the lake and the B105 van wasn't able to make it, so we had an interesting way to get out to the ice house! It's a little red neck!
This last Saturday we packed up the B105 van and made our way to beautiful Solon Springs, Wisconsin to take a look at some pretty cool ice shacks that were participating in the Lion's Club Ice Fishing contest. It was a lot of fun! Check out the video!
Last year we shot some videos showing off some cool set ups for ice fishing, and we'd like to do it again! If you've got a nice ice house, e-mail us and we'll come out and visit. We may even bring some goodies!
Yep, we were dumb. Not by choice, but the way things worked out, no one could go get our ice house off the lake last week or this weekend. That, coupled with the fact that we had a ton of snow, then temperatures in the 50's made it a pretty bad mess...
Ken, my co-host, keeps telling me the ice is thick enough, but with the warm weather we've had, I'm still a little nervous. According to our TV partners, the Northland's News Center, the deadline to have your Ice Shelters/Cribs off the lake is coming soon! (and if the weather keeps getting warmer, sooner than you think!) Don't forget to vote for your favorite Northland Ice Crib !
We've narrowed it down to two ice cribs that are up against each other. The winner gets a stay at Barker's Island Inn, $100 for dinner out at the shack, and 3 pairs of Smart Wool socks. (Not to mention every shack we met got $50 in gift certificates too)...
This was the first year me and my ice fishing friends built an ice house to put permanently on a lake during the ice fishing season. We've ran into a few problems and things that we will do better next year... the first time around.
My cousin is a carpenter and did a very nice job building the shack with our help...
Do you think you have the most unique ice fishing shanty in the Northland? Why not set out to prove it! B105 is holding the first ever Ice House Cribs contest, based on the show CMT Cribs.
Tell us why your fish house is the best in the Northland - whether it be design, decorations, how it helps you catch more fish, or anything else that makes your "home away from home on the ice" specia
