Here's how to get a real tree and help out kids in need.

My daughter saw these cute little holiday tree ornaments on Facebook and asked if we could do crafts this past weekend.  I expected to dedicate my entire Sunday to crafting but these little cuties only took a couple hours to make and were super easy.  If you are in looking for craft ideas for a group setting, these would work like a charm.

It's a family tradition for many families in the Northland, a trip to the woods or local tree farm to bring the perfect Christmas tree home to decorate.  To make the excursion most enjoyable, here's some tips to think about BEFORE you head out the door.

I grew up on County Road 3 in Wrenshall.  Technically I lived on what I called the border, because the kids on the other side of the street went to Carlton and I went to Wrenshall.  It was cool to have friends in both schools.  I was only about two miles from the Chub Lake Tree Farm, but wasn't there until after I had moved to Duluth.

The celebrating is done, the guests have gone home and you've taken down the decorations and holiday tree.  Usually, you stick it in the snowbank outside (and deal with it weeks later, but this year....most of us don't have a snowbank.  So, what should you do?  Treecycle with WLSSD!  BUT, trees only!  Wreaths, garland and other decorations should go in your trash.  They have added many more locati
