Quite a few people woke up in Duluth this morning with planes buzzing over head, only 50 or so feet above tree tops. In fact as I'm typing this, I can hear them make another pass. Don't be alarmed, its Gypsy Moth spraying.
Aerial Application to Eradicate Gypsy Moths In West Duluth Starts Tomorrow
The City of Superior has dealt with gypsy moths and emerald ash bore recently. In fact my co-host Ken Hayes had to have a tree from his boulevard removed because of the threat. Now the Minnesota Department of Agriculture says we need to treat 1,200 acres of land in the City of Duluth to slow the spread of a gypsy moth infestation.
Gypsy Moth Spraying Finished in Superior and the Rest of Wisconsin
Earlier this week the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture sprayed parts of Superior, waking up quite a few people with the low flying planes, and alarming others. Even though bulletins had been issued ahead of time, it still was a surprise to some residents. Now the Wisconsind Department of Agriculture says that the spraying has been completed and it's deemed a success.
