Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium there was a mascot vs. youth football players game as part of the Vikings vs. Buccaneers halftime festivities. While that sounds like a cute event for the young football players, Goldy The Gopher was in it to win it.

Turns out whoever takes home the North Star Challenge Cup this weekend will also be the last winner of the tournament.

Minnesota Gophers head football coach Jerry Kill recently suffered another stroke, which caused him to miss the game in Michigan.  The Gophers are on a bye this week and Coach Kill has decided he needs even more time away to try to manage his epilepsy.

It's true!  Pitino is coming to Minnesota!  Not legendary coach Rick Pitino, but the fruit of his loins.  Richard Pitino has reportedly committed to be the next Gophers basketball coach.

I can't remember the last time I saw the crowd in Minneapolis storm the court following a Gophers basketball game, but that was the scene Tuesday night as the Golden Gophers defeated the #1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers.
