If your company doesn't have a policy on open-toe footwear, is this okay?

I recently purchased a pair of Yaktrax this winter.  My hope was they would help with footing while ice fishing.  I took a couple of spills last year, and there is no fun hauling your gear off the lake with a sprained knee.   I was a bit worried though if they would actually work as advertised, and more importantly would they actually fit my large feet.

Time to drag out that cardboard box buried deep in the front hallway closet that's housed your flip flops all winter...we're on the cusp of Spring and Summer is on the horizon.  My daughter is a flip flop freak, she'd wear them in the winter if she could!  But, I'm a little concerned after reading that Dr John Whyte says they could damage your body.....
