Liz Calson and Lynn Olmsted have started a new business, but they aren't making any money. It relies on the kindness of one group of people to bring smiles and new life to flowers for another group of people. The business is called REBLOOM. Liz and Lynn pick up flowers donated from weddings, funerals, or other events and repurpose them for nursing homes and hospices .

Memorial Day Weekend is coming up the end of this week, are you ready?  Besides getting ready for your picnics, camping and opening up the cabin, you also need to remember why the day exists.  Every year I forget to do my family duty until the last minute.  This year, you're helping me remember.  Since I'm blogging about it, I'm also getting it done earlier than ever before.

My wife's favorite flower is Stargazer Lilies.  This year as a gift she received some lilies for her birthday.   We displayed them on the kitchen table.  They sat there for a few days, until a crisis appeared out of nowhere yesterday morning.

With the excessive heat we've had in the Northland the flowers in my yard have started to get crispy.  I was out Sunday evening picking off the ones that I knew couldn't be revived.  This critter flew up next to me and started drinking nectar from the flowers and it was NOT afraid of me.  Ken tells me his dad just saw one of these for the first time in his yard last week.  Are we being infested? 

Pollen counts in the Twin Ports reached 7.5 / 10 on the scale on Sunday and Monday this week.  This is classified as medium-high pollen amounts.  At work today, many people were having problems with their allergies and everyone shared stories about seeing pollen floating around in the air over the weekend.
