Fitgers 5k

I realize spring is a still a long ways away, but once I hear news about the annual Fitger's 5K Run & Walk I start to get excited for a change of season.  The downside is that the Fitger's 5K marks the start of my steady training schedule for the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon and I'm still in lazy winter mode.

The Fitgers 5K is Saturday.  The forecast is currently calling for a wet, sloppy run but that won't deter the runners, myself included.  If you're running, packet pickup is going on at Fitgers Friday until 6pm, then again Saturday morning from 7am - 8:30am.

Before I went for my evening run last night, I read through the latest developments from the FBI and learned of the many heroes that weren't expecting that title on what was to be a day at the Boston Marathon.  As our thoughts continue to be with those that were affected physically and emotionally by the Boston Marathon bombings, many area runners are preparing for the Fitger's 5K, this Saturday. 

I've run Fitger's 5K that past several years, and it's a great way for me to kick off training for the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon.  This year's Fitger's 5K is April 20th and if you want to join the fun, sign up soon to guarantee your spot.
