UGH.

Duluth's Dunn Brothers Coffee, Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, WI, and The Ranch Supper Club of Hayward, WI were part of January data breach impacting credit and debit card users in a handful of states.

I'm always going a hundred miles an hour and multi-tasking.  It was because of this trait that I had something happen to me that stopped me in my tracks and made me realize an important life lesson that I want to share with you.  At the risk of sounding like a tagline for Capitol One, "what's in your wallet"?

If you ate at an Arby's between October 25, 2016 and January 19, 2017, and used a credit or debit card, you should closely monitor your credit card or bank statements for any fraudulent activity.

Have you read about my dilemma?  I bought ONE t-shirt at the Kenny Chesney/Jason Aldean concert, but ended up paying $70 because I was charged for two and didn't check my receipt before signing?  Well, I have an update that involves both the credit card company and the Arnie Barn which is the company that sells t-shirts and souvenirs and the concert merch tables.

It was a perfect day.  Nice drive to the cities, no construction southbound, no traffic jams, the weather for the Kenny Chesney/Jason Aldean concert was beautiful.  But, it wasn't until the next morning I realized an irreversible mistake, one that cost me plenty!

It's hard to know what's true and who you can trust now days.  The best thing you can do is keep abreast of the scams that are current in the area and keep your guard up!  This scam could affect anyone that uses Credit Cards. Here's the latest:

Approximately 40 million credit and debit card accounts used by Target customers may have been impacted by a major data breach, the retailer said Thursday. Customer names along with credit and debit card numbers may have been accessed, as well as the expiration date and three-digit security code on the back of each card, the store said.

When you use plastic to make a purchase, the credit card company bills the vendor a surcharge between 1.5 and three percent.

The Superior Police department took to their facebook page to warn residents about a slick new credit card scam.  What makes this scam easy to fall for is that it only requires you to give them 3 numbers.

This just passed in Minneapolis and I think it should hit the Northland too.  I took a cab in Minneapolis this summer and was happily surprised they took check cards or credit cards, not just cash.  As this story supports, my tip to the cab drive was a little more than if I had to pay cash so I think it's a win for everyone over time.  Thoughts?
