As Christian Ponder's first full season in the NFL progresses, he has shown glimpses of greatness and offered a lot of frustration for his on-field performance. Off the field, it was announced about a month into the season that he was dating ESPN reporter Samantha Steele. Things have progressed.

The Minnesota Vikings lost to Green Bay today 23-14.  Adrian Peterson tried to defeat the Packers by himself, rushing for over 200 yards, including an 82 yard touchdown run that actually gave the Vikings the lead at halftime.  Yes, it appeared we'd have a good game between the heated rivals.  That was until Christian Ponder took the field in the second half.

The Vikings locker room was full of excitement after the 24-13 win over what many analysts called the best team in professional football the San Francisco 49ers. Christian Ponder continues to grow into his role as the quarterback of the future for the Minnesota Vikings, and his performance in the 24-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers included a few highlights such as his first NFL rushing touchdown. The Minnesota Vikings will enter their week 3 matchup as underdogs playing host to the San Francisco 49ers, who appear to be the hottest team in the NFL right now. Looking to upset the undefeated 49ers and stay above .500 on the season will be a tough challenge as San Francisco's ruthless defense and strong, balanced offense comes to town on Sunday at noon.

According to Brian Hall of FSNorth, Donovan McNabb asked the MN Vikings to release him, of which, they are considering.  With Jay Cutler's fractured thumb, will he go to play for his "home" team, the Chicago Bears? No worries for MN Viking's fans, Christian Ponder has started the last five games and may just be what the team has been searching for.  Do you agree?

Even the biggest Vikings fans knew chances were slim for a victory today with a rookie quarterback making his first start and a starting cornerback in jail.  Christian Ponder showed some promise and it was a closer game than many expected.  I still think Vikings coach Leslie Frazier made a mistake by punting the ball to Green Bay so late in the game, but what can you do.

Not exactly a shock, I would have been more shocked if McNabb was named the starter.  The Vikings have nothing to lose and they need to see if Ponder can play as they look to their future.  What better way to get introduced to the league than by playing the Super Bowl champs.  What do you think, is Ponder the future?

Not only are we sitting on the edge of our stadium seats, well....if we get a stadium.....to find out if we are going to have a NFL season at all, we are also silently watching to see what Brett Farve will do this year.  Retire?  Coach?
