Breakfast

The Kitchen' in Superior doesn't look like much when you drive by.  It's an old building in the industrial area of North End Superior.  But when you do drive by you see a packed parking lot everyday they are open.  The reason is simple.  It's fantastic food.  And a couple breakfasts ago, I tried my new favorite breakfast of all time:  The hash brown omelet.

As if Santa wasn't busy enough, 45 years ago he had a meeting with The Port of Duluth Kiwanis Club and decided to make breakfast with Northland families a tradition.  That tradition continues this Saturday, December 10 at the First United Methodist Church (the Coppertop),  230 E Skyline Pkwy in Duluth.

Cathy today shared the list of the all time greatest cereals, and Quisp was number 1.  I've never heard of Quisp, but Cathy has.  Here's a classic commercial to jog your memory.

After running one morning my husband asked where we should go for breakfast.  As we discussed the topic and couldn't decide we realized there was lots of area restaurants that have darn good breakfast food.  After all, it's the most important meal of the day, right?  Here's where we were discussing to go, but I realize this is a partial list of favorites, can you add to the list?

Appetizers? No problem.  Elegant dinner?  No problem.  Extravagant dessert?  You're on it like a puma.  But, it's always a challenge to be consistent in the culinary department when it comes to serving breakfast to overnight guests.  Here's one from Taste of Home that will allow you to sleep in and still knock their socks off!

Of course Santa has had the Christmas City of the North Parade on his calendar for months.  He looks forward to it every year!  This year he's sticking around in the Northland to have breakfast with you and your family!

I work so early in the morning that there are sometimes ZERO options for getting a quick breakfast to go.  So from time to time I try to buy some frozen sandwiches I can keep at work to heat up.

I can't believe I'm 31 years old and only discovered this in the last year.  This is in my opinion the best meat ever.  Regular bacon is the reigning champ, but I think it's because more people have tried cottage bacon.

Ok, so here's something we've stumbled on in conversation this morning.  Cathy actually buys pulp orange juice, and PREFERS it!  Who likes pulp?  Apparently some people do!?  I'll stick with my no pulp OJ.  Who's with me?

My husband and I were grocery shopping together this past weekend.  I only turned my back for a minute and BAM! an unidentified object lands in the cart.  "It's not on the list" I say.  He replies, "I haven't had this since I was a kid.  I just HAVE to have it!".  Now he knows what it feels like when I find a pair of cute shoes I have to buy!

Yesterday the Kwik Trip store on Banks in Superior opened up.  Finally a convenience store that's open when I get up in the morning with hot food!  Today I stopped in on my way to work to get some breakfast.  This would be my first time trying their breakfast sandwich combo.  And let me tell you, I've eaten a lot of gas station sandwiches, so I like to think of myself as an expert.

I grabbed a Slim Jim for breakfast today, and had some difficulty with the wrapper.  Cathy decided to capture it on video after it was apparent this was going to be an epic fail.
