Transportation officials say the Blatnik Bridge is among 7,795 bridges across the country that has been classified as "fracture critical" or "structurally deficient".

Cathy and I were talking today the bridges between Duluth and Superior and she brought up the Arrowhead Bridge.  I had heard of it, but I'm too young to remember so I went on the web to see if I could find some info. Not only did I find out some cool facts, but also found this video on YouTube!

Just about every time we have snowy and windy conditions here in the Twin Ports, someone inevitably blurts out, "they are going to close the bridges!"  And all of us who work across the bridge  (Duluth or Superior side) start to panic we won't make it home.  The frustrating part of this whole situation is that 99% of the time, the bridges don't close, but misinformation is spread anyway

Ugh.  That's what we will all be saying come road construction season.  This year will be a record year for the amount of orange cones on the road.  I don't know about you, but I think we deserve a break commuting after the last couple of years we had here in the Twin Ports.

You'll be able to drive in both directions on the Blatnik Bridge beginning Friday.  The drive from Duluth to Superior will be restricted to one lane early next week, it will be nice to have both lanes available once again.

A travel update regarding work being done on the Blatnik Bridge.  Travelers have been only able to travel from Duluth to Superior on the south bound lanes, but soon there will be a switch as those lanes close and the north bound lanes open.

Safety is a concern, so only the decorative lights on the Blatnik Bridge will be off during the two year preservation project that started this month.
