Bear Grylls

NBC reality trek Running Wild With Bear Grylls has made headlines in recent months for bringing high-profile figures out into the wilderness, but the survival series may yet have its biggest name ever, and all for a cause. Barack Obama himself will join Grylls in the wilds of Alaska, exploring some of the climate change of the region.

We've really enjoyed watching "The Island" on Monday nights, and last night was the finale.  You learn to have your favorites during the show, and people that you root for.  Well we found out who made it all 28 days surviving on the island.

I stumbled on this today and thought it was too good not to share.  I think I might steal a tampon and put it in my hiking bag, because this works pretty slick.  Why would you want to use a tampon?  It's already waterproof in it's package, and it starts on fire with just a spark.  (Watch out ladies.)

Bear Grylls and Discovery Channel may have parted ways, but it looks like the Brit survival expert has found another path to your living room.  NBC has announced that Bear Grylls will host a new reality show where two teams compete in a survival setting.
