Barker's Island Inn in Superior was recently recognized by the American Cancer Society.  That award doesn't include ALL that Barker's Island Inn, their General Manager, Charlie Johnson and his staff has done to help in raising thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

What an honor!  Especially for a company that boasts over 150 employees and 63 buses.  This isn't Dan Rolland's first award with the DTA which shows the longevity of his career!

One thing I look forward to each year with Grandmas Marathon is finding out who will receive the Marsh Nelson Media Award. It takes so many people to create a successful event, but of course I favor the media.

Grandma's Marathon is grateful for their numerous volunteers that put in countless hours before, during and after the race.  For years, they have recognized, a public employee or elected official that is worthy of  receiving the prestigious Rudy Perpich Public Service Award.  Who will you nominate this year??

I decided today that I should hang up my 3 employee of the month plaques.  People in the office have been giving me a hard time about having blank walls.   (When I was single, I never hung a picture...ever.) Anyway, while I was hanging them, I noticed some strange similarities that got me thinking.  For some reason, I seem to shine during the winter months.  Here's why.
