I had heard sirens last night. When I hear sirens in the quiet evening hoursI try to picture where they are located. I know these sirens stopped close. It turns out it was deemed an arson fire and now the fire department needs our help.
It's been a pretty bizarre story from the beginning. A young father who was the volunteer fire chief in Babbitt MN set wildfires between 2010 and 2012. He claims stress from his newborn son caused him to set the fires. He was sentenced to 5 years in a federal prison, but didn't report yesterday as he was originally required.
Local authorities are continuing to investigate as many as 10 similar recent fires in the area that have been determined to be arson.

There's been 15 suspected Arson Fires in the Northland since March. Let's hope we catch whoever is causing all this damage and putting lives of people at risk. Both Duluth and Superior Police Departments are working on catching the suspects. In the meantime, I thought I would share some tips on doing the most you can do to protect yourself.
Three fires in West Duluth this morning have Twin Ports authorities beginning to suspect a serial arsonist is hitting targets in Duluth and Superior. This morning's blazes add to a list of arson fires in the Twin Ports that has grown to nine since March.
