The archery hunt at Minnesota's Camp Ripley are popular annual events and 2020 permits will be available Friday, August 28, but there will be a change this year.

If you're a woman in Minnesota looking to perfect a new skill, the Minnesota DNR is offering archery and bow hunting classes as part of their Becoming an Outdoors Woman program.

Last night's episode of America's Got Talent got a little shocking.  This side show couple was performing, and the highlight of the act was supposed to be shooting a flaming arrow into a plunger that the husband swallowed.  You'll get what I mean when you watch the video.  But the arrow missed!

If you're a woman in the Northland who has always wanted to get into archery or bow hunting, but didn't know where to start, the Minnesota DNR has the perfect opportunity.  They are offering archery skills classes for women beginning Saturday, March 5, at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

We were up at the hunting shack this weekend and we shot guns ALL DAY.  We shot hundreds of rounds.  We also shot a lot of archery.  The problem is that this time of year it gets dark a little too early.  So we made do with a couple sets of headlights.  Here's a quick video I took before we starting shooting the archery target with our bows.

I've had portable stands for deer hunting for years.  I've helped buddies haul them out in the woods, and they are heavy.  It's a real pain, especially if you're hunting on public land where you can't leave them out there.  This Millennium stand is a game changer.  It's so light, you can wear it as a backpack.

I saw this today and I immediately was interested.  It's a sport that is growing internationally, and it looks like a lot of fun.   Much like paintball, Archery Tag is a sport where players shoot arrows at each other on teams.  The arrows have a foam tip so no one gets hurt.  But like paintball, it sure looks like you wouldn't want to get hit.  Check it out!

If you have ever shot a bow, ever wanted to, or ever seen anyone shoot a bow before, you have to watch this video!  This guy Lars Andersen has learned ancient techniques to become the most deadly man with an arrow on the planet.  He can even shoot incoming arrows and split them in half!  What!?

It's pretty rare that a deer will take on a human being, but it did occur Friday night in Fon Du Lac County.  A 72 year old hunter shot a deer with an arrow from his crossbow and wounded the animal.   The animal ran off, but later he went to track the doe.

There has been a lot of buzz about the latest thing to hit archery:  The Mathews No Cam.  Engineers basically started from scratch and designed an entirely new bow and they believe they have come up with the most accurate design yet.

Starting this season, a crossbow season will run concurrently with archery season in Wisconsin.  Now all hunters are permitted to buy the license.  In the past it was only available to hunters with disabilities or those over 65.
