The Bayfield Apple Fest is coming up the weekend of October 7, 8 and 9, time to get out all your favorite apple recipes.  May I suggest one to add to your cache?  Taste of Home adds the unusual taste of almond brickle and English toffee to make a dip that won't stay in the bowl for long.

I have so many fond memories of the Bayfield Apple Festival.  From the beautiful drive, to spending time there over the years with family friends eating my weight in random apple fare, I've always looked forward to the years I could go.

So I had these apples... And in our house fruit rots.  We are terrible people who don't eat enough fruit.   I needed to do something with these apples and I figured I could make one hell of a pie out of them.   The problem was I had never made a pie before, so I had no idea what I was doing.  Thankfully, my mom is a home-economics teacher. I gave her a call.
