American Birkebeiner

Weather had a huge impact on the 2017 American Birkebeiner, so all eyes are on an amazing 2018 event and registration opens Monday, May 1.

The weather conditions just haven't worked out for the 2017 Birkebeiner Ski races this weekend.  Unseasonably warm weather along with rain melted away the snow.  There was a last minute hope that the snowstorm predicted would save the ski event, but the storm went further east.

I always welcome the chance to try a new beer, so I was excited by the announcement that the Birkie has partnered with Lucette Brewing Company to create the Birkie Brew-Ski,  which they are billing as a Legendary Amber Ale.

Tired of being stuck in-doors?  Want to get a free Birkie hat? The American Birkebeiner and BirkieTour are coming up soon and have volunteer opportunities available in several areas. You'll get out in the fresh air, earn a free hat and get an invite to an appreciation dinner in February.

While the American Birkebeiner is still on for February, a related annual event has just been cancelled.
