Last week after an already big enough meal I was craving dessert and had remembered that a new ice cream shop had opened where Jimmy John's used to be on Grand Avenue in Duluth.  I was riding shotgun so had my co-worker pull in and they opted to not get anything or even go inside.

The T-Icy Roll Ice Cream Shop is clean and bright and they have a lot of options other than just ice cream.  From smoothies to bubble tea, the menu appears to have something for just about everyone.

I opted for something I figured was safe for a first try and the counter employee recommended the Oreo flavored rolled ice cream.  I paid, and watched them start the creation.  It's kind of like how Cold Stone has a cold countertop to work on, but instead is a stainless steel type setup where the work the liquid back and forth working in the Oreo and eventually rolling it into, well, rolls.  I was offered a few free toppings and chocolate sauce and whipped cream seemed fitting.

The ice cream was incredibly cold and harder at first, which is exactly how I like ice cream to be.  The flavor was good, but nothing too special.  There are a couple of flavors on the menu I would like to try still but at almost $7.50 before tip, that's a pretty costly ice cream for something I felt was average tasting at best.  A family of 5 would have a pretty hefty tab.  It's worth a try though if you haven't, it is pretty neat how they make it.   You can find them at 4602 Grand Avenue in Duluth, MN.  More information on their offerings is here.
