$4 Million Road Construction Project Affects Superior Motorists June 9
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers just signed a 3.98 million contract for improvements on a stretch of highway in Superior, Wisconsin.
US Highway 53 runs through Superior, Wisconsin, and a stretch is in need of repair. Sections of pavement between 2nd Avenue East and Hughitt Avenue are showing signs of deterioration.
The Highway 53 intersection at E Street also has been a safety issue. There have been higher-than-average crashes at this intersection compared to similar intersections throughout the rest of the state.
Traffic will remain open for most of the work, but motorists will encounter single lane closures. Milling and paving of the on and off ramps for the Blatnik bridge will require temporary detours. But, honestly, you might as well practice taking the Bong Bridge because starting next year, the Blatnik Bridge project will progress.

Lenroot Drive will close to through traffic early in the project. Access will be available to businesses in the area. The project is expected to start on June 9th and be completed by October 2025.

You can read more about the work being done on the project page through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. WisDOT also reminds motorists that using handheld cell phones in Wisconsin work zones is illegal. Save a life, and keep your eyes on the road.
