Study Shows What Pick Up Lines Work Best and Which Fail in Minnesota and Wisconsin
It's happened to all of us at one point or another. Either we've tried some sort of pick up line or have been at the receiving end of one. Now, many times they're said jokingly, but there are some more subtle ones that are said for a purpose.
The big question is do any of these pick up lines actually work? The overall answer is yes but, according to a study by BespokeSurgical.com, which type of pick up line actually works is based upon which state you live in.
The results of their study were shared recently. They went on a mission with a pretty direct and adult premise:
We asked a diverse set of Americans about which gestures, personality traits, habits, sex positions, and pick up lines are feeding their sex drives most this year. We posed survey questions about a variety of turn-ons, both sexual and non-sexual, from nude photos and oral sex to saying “I love you” and being intellectually challenged. Further, we found out which pick up lines are turning Americans on and off.
Before we get to which pick up lines and tactics work and which don't work in Minnesota and Wisconsin, here are some of cringiest pick up lines that were shared with them from people across America.
- Your eyes are like IKEA. I’m totally lost in them
- Are you a parking ticket? Because you’ve got fine written all over you
- Is your accent real?
- I’m glad I brought my library card because I’m checking you out
- You gotta be tired because you’ve been running through my mind all day
- What’s your sign?
- You look like Olivia Newton-John
- Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only ten I see
- I lost my number. Can I borrow yours?
- Are you a beaver? Because dam…
- You remind me of my father
Be honest, have you used any of those? If so let's hope it was as a joke.
One things their study found was that the phrase, “compliments will get you everywhere” certainly rings true for Americans. When asked which type of pick up line turns them on most, residents in 27 states said compliments.
The rings true for people in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, where we prefer compliments over jokes, questions or cheesy remarks. However that is not the case in other parts of the country, which you can see in their full report as well as a lot more.
As for what doesn't work in Minnesota and Wisconsin, that would be TV show or movie quotes, so if you're looking to pick someone up, better avoid using those and save them for when you're with your friends.
