The AP is reporting that St. Louis County this week had more cases of COVID-19 than any county in Minnesota.

Health officials say 475 cases were reported by Wednesday of this week, and most of them were in the month of July. The AP is reporting that 75% of the cases were in the Duluth area.

Nursing homes were the hardest hit but now the numbers are shifting to the younger demographics with  33% of the numbers hitting people in their 20s.

The AP is reporting that 40% of the people said they had visited a bar or restaurant during this period and they may have been exposed to it there. The Star Tribune is reporting that Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa reported its first two confirmed cases on the reservation.

The numbers have been high in the south recently and the midwest has been relatively quiet. As numbers started to rise, the Governor of Minnesota made it mandatory to wear masks, and then closed down bars in the Minneapolis area. With the numbers so high and growing faster in the Northern part of the state, it makes you wonder if the bars and restaurants will close their indoor service and make more outdoor and drive-up services available.

Some of the area restaurants have been forced to close temporarily like Grandma's, Little Angie's, and the Duluth Grill. The Star Tribune says officials will be watching the hospitalizations in the coming weeks and see if the numbers even off after some of the self closures by bars and restaurants in the area.
