Spring Burning Restrictions In Place Today Minnesota Counties
If your plans over the next week or so involve cleaning up the yard at your house or cabin, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources wants to remind you that burning restrictions are in place today in Carlton, Itasca, Koochiching and south St. Louis counties.
According to the DNR, the state will not give out burning permits for burning brush or yard waste during spring restrictions. Debris burning is especially dangerous in April and May when most wildfires occur in Minnesota. Residents may need to find alternatives to burning such as composting or hauling brush to a collection site, or wait until after green-up when it is safer to burn.
Restrictions usually last from four to six weeks and campfires are not included in these restrictions.
