Someone Bought A $1 Million Powerball Ticket In Superior
Someone's recent visit to a Kwik Trip in Superior was a very lucky one!
The Wisconsin Lottery shared via their social media pages on Monday morning that a $1 million Powerball winning ticket was sold at a Kwik Trip in Superior for the Saturday drawing (January 23).
The lucky winner visited the Kwik Trip at 2807 Tower Avenue in Superior, though it was not immediately shared by the Wisconsin Lottery if the winner has been identified yet.
The Wisconsin Lottery's website notes that along with the $1 million winning ticket purchased in Superior, a $23.2 million ticket for Saturday's jackpot was also purchased in New Jersey.
The winning numbers were 5, 8, 17, 27, 28, 14.
This follows recent buzz around both the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots reaching highs last week before both saw winners. Someone won a $731.1 million Powerball jackpot from a ticket purchased in Maryland on January 20. Another lucky person won $1.05 billion on January 22 from a ticket purchased in Michigan. That billion-plus dollar prize is the third largest lottery prize in the history of the United States. Wow!
The million dollar Powerball ticket purchased in Superior isn't the state's largest lottery winner. in March of 2019, a $768.4 million ticket was purchased in New Berlin, Wisconsin. That just so happens to be the 4th largest jackpot in U.S. history.
Just in case you're curious, the largest lottery jackpot won across the border in Minnesota actually had to be split. The $448.4 million jackpot from August of 2013 had two winning tickets, one sold in Minnesota and the other in New Jersey. This was the 21st largest jackpot in the country's history.
To whoever won the million dollars in Superior, congratulations!
