Saturday $2 Million Winning Powerball Ticket Remains Unclaimed In Minnesota
It was a very profitable weekend for someone in Minnesota who decided to take a chance by purchasing a Powerball ticket and spend a little extra by adding the Power Play feature which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times.
On Saturday, September 2, the Powerball jackpot had grown to an estimated $420 million and while nobody won that astounding amount, there were three big winners across the United States, with the largest amount being won in Minnesota.
Saturday's winning Powerball numbers were 25, 38, 42, 66, 67, and the Powerball 19. Those lucky numbers produced $1 million winners in New York and North Carolina and a $2 million winner in Minnesota, thanks to the Power Play feature.
To win $1 million, you have to successfully pick the first 5 numbers and miss only the Powerball number. Basically, you're one Powerball number away from winning the jackpot. If you pay an extra $1 for the Power Play, the Match 5 prize is always $2 million.
According to the Minnesota Lottery, the $2 million winning ticket was sold in Stearn County at The Store of St. Anna, located at 37215 Country Road 9 in Avon, Minnesota.
Avon, Minnesota has a 2023 estimated population of approximately 1,700 people.
As of Monday night, the Minnesota Lottery had listed that $2 million prize as unclaimed. However, the big win did take place during the Labor Day holiday weekend so one would hope that the winner is well aware of the fact that they have the winning ticket and they'll claim their prize.
Unless the winner decides to come forward publicly, we may never know who they are. Recently, regulation changes took place in order to protect lottery winners who win over $10,000. Big-money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.

Since nobody claimed the Powerball jackpot on September 2, the Powerball jackpot grew to an estimated $435 million for the Monday, September 4 drawing. Powerball drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The cutoff time to purchase your Powerball tickets is 9:00 p.m. CST on the days of the drawings.
