Sam Elliott’s Character Gives Duluth Shout-Out On Family Guy
We didn't really need another reason to love Sam Elliott but here's one: he showed Duluth some love over the weekend!
Okay, so it wasn't Sam Elliott exactly but it was his animated character on the hit show Family Guy. The show has been around since 1999 and is still hugely popular so it is pretty cool that they are still going strong AND decided to shine a spotlight on the town we love.
The episode is titled "Wild Wild West" and is the seventh episode of season nineteen. During part of the episode, Sam Elliott's character, named Wild West, is asked to be the mayor of a fictional town while tending to his farm.
Main character Peter Griffin drives to town to ask him to be the new mayor of his hometown, stating that it would be a good fit because West's cousin used to be mayor there before "going to a better place." That is when Wild West says with a deadpan voice: Duluth?
This obviously wasn't the place Griffin had in mind but Wild West is still fixated on Duluth, saying it is a "beautiful country" and that the "air moves into your nostrils like a welcome guest." Griffin seems to be a fan too, saying that Duluth sounds awesome. We agree!
Take a look at the clip below:
In case you're curious, Wild West does not take Peter Griffin up on the offer of becoming mayor. Things may have turned out differently on this episode if the offer really was to be the mayor of Duluth since he seems to love it so much. I guess we will have to wait until another episode to see!
