Prom season may be over, but stories about them are not, at least not this one.

Rubber Chicken Theater is taking Stephen King's Horror Classic and making it into a musical production. Yes, they went that way with it.

RCT will be putting on the production on June 20-22 and 27-29 at 7:30pm at The Underground, located in the lower level of the Depot, 506 West Michigan Street. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students.

According to the Press release

Carrie the Musical tells the story of misfit Carrie White. At school, she’s an outcast who’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie’s just discovered she’s got a special power, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it.

Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, Carrie the Musical hasn’t been seen since its legendary 1983 Broadway production. After that, the show’s original authors collaborated with several artists to create a newly reworked and fully re-imagined vision of this gripping tale. Set today, in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie the Musical features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose.)

Carrie the Musical is directed by Rubber Chicken Theater veteran Nathan Payne (who knows his way around a bloody musical or two) and features Kelly Killorin as Carrie White and Rebecca Farmer as Carrie’s mother, Margaret. The show is being debuted to the Twin Ports through the generous sponsorship of Horror Rewind and Perfect Duluth Day.
