A three-week project near the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Railroad Street will close Railroad Street for the time being.  According to officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the project is set to begin on Monday, July 8.

During the time that the work is being performed, traffic traveling on Garfield Avenue will shift to the eastbound side in a two-lane, two-way configuration as crews work in the westbound lanes.  Turning movements to and from Garfield Street will be closed.  Traffic will be detoured onto West Superior Street and 5th Avenue West.

According to MNDOT, the scope of the project includes replacing the existing pavement, constructing new storm sewer utilities, and making ADA improvements to the roadway.

If all goes as planned, the timeline for the project has it only lasting three weeks; it should be wrapped up by the end of July. To learn more and get details, click here to visit MNDOT's project page.
