Craving Poutine? Check Out This Hidden Gem In Superior

Are you a fan of poutine? The dish is of Canadian origin and has been a favorite of mine for years. It's French fries with gravy smothered on top. There also should be cheese curds in the mix as well, and topping it with meat is optional.

Many places have their own style of Poutine. For years, I loved Shorty's poutine with smoked meat. That business closed, reopened, and then closed again, and I've been searching for a good poutine since.

I asked for suggestions on our Facebook page, and many people pointed me to Mama T's Smokin' Eats in Superior. Well, last night I went out and tried it and OMG. It was incredible!

Let's start with the fries. They had the perfect crisp, not too crunchy and not too soft. They were fresh and delicious. The gravy was savory and delicious, and the cheese curds melted in your mouth. Diced green onions added a nice flavor and crunch, and the bacon was some of the best I've had in Poutine. Our server told us that they get their bacon from a local farm, and I believe it!

I added pulled pork to the poutine because I'm a meat eater, and the pulled pork was tender and flavorful, too. I didn't plan on eating the whole basket, but I couldn't help myself. I could have licked the plate clean like a dog, but I remained civilized.

My wife ordered the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich. She raved about the housemade signature remoulade sauce. Next time, she's going to order extra on the side. We both tried a little of each other's meals, and we can't wait to go back and try another menu item.

I was also impressed that they offer gluten-free buns and something on the menu for everyone. They have a full menu of signature drinks, too. I'm going to try the BBQ Old Fashion next time I go.

I tried their exclusive Bayfield Hauser Apfelhaus Cider. Apparently you can't get it anywhere else. It tasted like apples from Bayfield!
