A sign that spring is coming in the Northland: when the Portland Malt Shoppe opens for the season! Sadly, that isn't happening until further notice.

The Duluth favorite was set to open this past Saturday, April 4th but announced day of that it wasn't happening as planned. They shared the news on their Facebook page, writing the following:

We were planning to open the PortLand Malt Shoppe today, April 4th, but unfortunately COVID19 changed the date. We hope you are all well and caring for your families. Time will eventually heal our nation's sorrow for the losses due to this virus.

We will open for the 2020 season when it is safe for our employees, customers, and community. Let us pray that this is soon.

The Portland Malt Shoppe closes for the winter season each year and opens up again in the spring. As of right now, they have not announced a new date to open.

While the shop doesn't offer dine-in service and stands alone, many gather in long lines for the chance to get the treat, which brings up problems with everything going on with COVID-19 coronavirus.

The Portland Malt Shoppe closed last year on October 20th. It looks like we will have to wait a little bit longer to feast! The Portland Malt Shoppe is located on 716 East Superior Street in Duluth.
