After years of seemingly booming craft beer sales, the start to the year for beer lovers in Minnesota and Wisconsin has not been good.

It had already been reported that Mankato Brewing, after 13 years in business, would be permanently closing at the end of January. Meanwhile, Leinies in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, had announced it would be closing on Friday, January 17.

Now, this week another Minnesota brewing announced through social media that it too would be closing, and there isn't much time to say goodbye.

Matthew and Laura Rosati, the founders and Executive Officers of Chanhassen Brewing Company, say they moved to Chanhassen in 2013 to raise their three young children. They opened the business in April 2021.

In its heartfelt post, Chanhassen Brewing Company announced it would close on February 1, adding "It's been an incredible journey, and we are incredibly grateful for the support and loyalty you’ve shown us over the years."

Owners went on to thank customers for being a part of its story and for making the business a special place, adding "We’ll cherish the memories and all the wonderful moments we’ve shared together."

A Strong Show Of Support

It didn't take long before the announcement was met with an outpouring of support and well-wishes from the community. That strong show of support led Chanhassen Brewing Company to create a follow-up post on January 16 to express its gratitude again.

The new post began, "Thank you so much for everyone’s kind words and support during this time. Your well wishes mean a lot to us as we move forward." It went on to share that normal activities, such as Trivia on Wednesdays at 7 and BINGO at 6 on Thursdays, would continue until February 1.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
