As the summer road construction season winds down, one of the "usual" projects is about to happen:  The annual inspection of the Oliver Bridge.  As has been the practice in years past, that inspection - scheduled for Wednesday, September 11 - will bring about a total closure of the bridge that spans the St. Louis River.

Officials with the CN Railroad are working in advance to get the word out about the closure that will happen between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.  Organizers don't anticipate the inspection taking longer than the daytime hours on September 11.

Meanwhile, work continues on the Minnesota-approach-side of the Oliver Bridge with a project that started earlier this summer.  That work aims to improve the road surface; at the same time, the work will improve storm sewer drainage and also bring improvements to safety and accessibility concerns. That work is expected to be finished some point in October of 2019.
