You might not think a plastic surgery practice like Northland Plastic Surgery would offer great skin care and chemical-free makeup, but their Skin Care Center has everything from facials and chemical peels to microdermabrasion. The Skin Care Center treatments have no down time, so you can head right back to work or out with friends afterward.

Since I'm in the second half of my 20s, I wanted to start taking better care of my skin now (I do have some fine lines and wrinkles!) and prevent aging as much as possible.

I hadn't been to a skin care center before, so I didn't know what to expect or even what services would be good for me. My esthetician, Ardie, made me feel super comfortable and explained all of my different options and together we came up with a plan on how I could achieve my perfect skin.

I got a microdermabrasion, during which Ardie used a small hand piece to rejuvenate my skin. "The abrasive action of the crystals combine with the suction to remove the dead outer layer of your skin while bringing softer skin to the surface," according to Northland's website. It can attack fine lines, dull skin, coarse skin and large pores.

It just took 30 minutes, and after, Ardie gave me a few products that would help my skin even more. I left feeling confident about my skin.

The Skin Care Center also offers chemical-free makeup and prescription-level skin care products that address major problems we all face, like acne, fine lines or wrinkles. They have Latisse, too, which is a prescription product that helps eye lashes grow longer. It's pretty convenient — You can walk out the same day with your prescription products.

I've been back a few times and my skin has never looked better! The investment in self-care is definitely worth it, and I'm glad these changes I'm making now will have a long-term effect on my skin.
