Nike Unveils New Shoe Designed For Medical Professionals
Not only do medical workers face mentally stressful situations on a daily basis, they also have physically demanding jobs. Nike studied this and a new shoe was created.
Nike has announced the release of the Air Zoom Pulse, which they they claim is:
A shoe for everyday heroes: nurses, doctors, home health providers and others who work tirelessly to support patients.
Nike designed the the shoe after product testing and studying medical professionals at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital located in Portland, Oregon. During those observations, they realized just how physically demanding being a medical professional can be. For example, they discovered nurses walk approximately four to five miles and sit for less than an hour during the course of a 12-hour shift.
Not only is the shoe engineered to be supportive, comfortable and easy to put on and take off, but it also has a coated toe box to protect against any type of spill.
The shoes will be available December 7, including special versions of the Air Zoom Pulse which were designed by patients and the proceeds will benefit the OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
