Netflix Comedy Special Shot In Minnesota Pokes Fun At Midwesterners In Hilarious Stand-Up
Pete Holmes finally has a new Netflix special, and it's about time. This special was shot in Minnesota and I really couldn't think of a better place for him to showcase his sense of humor.
Pete's not like most other comics. One of the big things that stands out about Pete is his Christian faith, which even he points out is pretty rare in the comedy industry. He pokes fun at himself, and along the way pokes fun of "Minnesota Nice" and Midwest values. The special was shot at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, and the crowd was very receptive.
It's all in good fun, and the crowd loves it. Pete Holmes's special is titled "Pete Holmes: I Am Not For Everyone." Yes, that's true. Pete isn't for everyone, but for the right crowd, he's pretty funny. He's gained a fan base over the years.
He even starred in a three-season HBO Sitcom "Crashing". I thought it was a great series and wish it continued. Pete featured a bunch of his comedy friends throughout the season. I loved the episode with John Mulaney. It's about a comic working his way and trying to make it in the comedy industry. It's too bad it didn't continue.
That's why I was excited and didn't hesitate to hit play when I saw it on my Netflix suggestions. The special didn't disappoint. Not every joke lands, but the beauty with Pete is he can get a secondary laugh from the crowd with ease.
He has a lot of relatable jokes, and I don't want to spoil any of them for you. Trust me, if you're from the Midwest, you'll get a kick out of this standup special.
