Have you ever treated yourself to a dirty soda? Dirty sodas originated in Utah and became popular in that part of the country through the 2010s.

The dirty soda concept has recently become popular on social media platforms like TikTok and others, especially after Hulu's "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives." The reality show featured a group of moms in Utah who were shown drinking multiple dirty sodas a week while sharing their favorite combinations.

If you're like me and are still a little unclear about this dirty soda craze, the basic definition of dirty soda is 'a drink made by mixing soda with cream or half-and-half, flavored syrups, and sometimes fruit juice.'

It's really about delicious creativity and now Minnesota has its first shop dedicated to making dirty sodas, which they believe are the best drinks ever.

Minnesota's First & Only Dirty Soda Shop Has Opened For Business

On Monday, December 2, a new family-run Minnesota business called Sota opened its doors to treat the masses to the pleasures of dirty sodas. The self-proclaimed 'bunch of goofballs' say they are just as serious about having fun as they are about making delicious drinks.

After first starting as a food truck, Sota now has a permanent home, located at 13630 Grove Drive in Maple Grove. Business hours are from 2 PM to 8 PM Monday through Friday and 11 AM to 8 PM on Saturdays. Sota is closed on Sundays.

They have a large variety of dirty sodas made from popular colas like Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Pepsi, and Diet Pepsi. They also have drinks made from Mtn Dew, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Fanta Orange, Minute Maid Lemonade, and Mug Root Beer.

For those who don't drink soda, or "pop" as tend to call it here, they also have drinks made with triple-filtered still or sparkling water.

Just What Is On The Menu At A Dirty Soda Shop?

Now that we know the drinks Sota uses as the base for the drinks, what is on the menu? Here is a sample of drinks you can make:

Made w/ Triple-Filtered Still or Sparkling Water

If you want to start with water, perhaps you'd like a 'BARBIE GIRL', which adds strawberries, coconut & strawberry puree. Another option is 'KISS FROM A ROSE', which adds raspberries, coconut & raspberry puree.

Made w/ Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Pepsi, or Diet Pepsi

If cola is your game, you could start with '1979', which adds vanilla, fresh lime, & coconut cream. Another good one is the 'REGULATOR', which adds cherry, vanilla & cream.

Made w/ Dr. Pepper or Diet Dr. Pepper

A couple of options for Dr. Pepper are 'MO MONEY', which adds butterscotch, vanilla & cream, and 'MY HERO', which adds raspberry, coconut & raspberry puree.

Made w/ Sprite, Mtn Dew, or Diet Mtn Dew

If citrus is your base, you could go with the 'WICKED GAME', which adds peach, mango, & strawberry puree. Another option is 'EVERYTHING ZEN', which adds passion fruit, blue raspberry & fresh lemon.

Made w/ Minute Maid Lemonade

If you want to start with lemonade, try 'JUST LIKE HEAVEN', which adds cherry, coconut & fresh lime. Or you could add strawberries, peaches, and strawberry puree for a 'CALIFORNIA LOVE'.

Made w/ Fanta Orange

To me, the 'JUICY' sounds the best with Fanta Organe as it adds vanilla, cream & orange wedge.

Made w/ Mug Root Beer

There are a couple of options if you love root beer, including the 'SATELLITE', which adds toasted marshmallow & cream.

Sota's menu also features a Flavor Of The Week. You can click the button above to see the full, expanding menu and get more information.
