It seems that the midwest is well-equipped to handle it. Earlier this year, two Minnesota cities were named among the best budgeters in the entire country, which is pretty impressive.

Those cities? Minneapolis and St. Paul. Both of these major cities placed in the top ten, which means they are pretty financially savvy. Maybe someone can teach me their ways!

WalletHub Names The States With The Best Budgeters - And The Worst!

WalletHub released another study this month that lists the states with the best budgeters and of course, the worst budgeters in the country. Budgeting is not my strong suit but this motivates me for sure.

To create this list, WalletHub analysts looked at a bunch of different factors, including median credit score in each state, foreclosure rate and credit card utilization. They also looked at non-mortgage debt in terms of said median income.

Minnesota & Wisconsin Named Some Of Best Budgeters In 2025

I definitely don't think I fall under this umbrella but Minnesota and Wisconsin residents are officially some of the best budgeters in the country, with Minnesota coming in at number five out of all states in the country.

Wisconsinites did even better, coming in at number four. We aren't as great as Hawaii though, who came in at number one as the state with the best budgeters. Things are really expensive there so it makes sense.
