Minnesota Vikings Head Trainer Tests Positive for COVID-19

Just days before training camp is set to open, the Minnesota Vikings were dealt a big blow.

Minnesota Vikings Head Athletic Trainer, Vice President of Sports Medicine and the team's Infection Control Officer Eric Sugarman, tested positive for COVID-19. Members of his family also tested positive.

The team says that the Sugarman immediately went into the NFL's protocol and is self-quarantining with his family. The team says, "We have followed the team's protocol for sanitizing the facility and for notifying any personnel who may have been in close contact with Eric. Those individuals have been tested and are returning under the established guidelines."

The Vikings say that Saugarman will continue in his role virtually as much as possible. Sugarman issued a statement saying, "as I sit here in quarantine, it is clear this virus does not discriminate. It should continue to be taken seriously. I encourage people to take the necessary precautions and follow guidelines that have been established nationally and locally."

The Vikings gave a look behind the scenes last week to Peter King and the tour was lead by Sugarman who went through the cleaning procedures and some of the protocol if someone were to test positive, unfortunately, it was him.

It will be interesting to see what happens from here? Will they delay the start of camp, or start as planned on Wednesday? And what does losing him, in particular, say for things going forward, and what does it do for team morale when the person in charge of keeping you safe, gets the virus?
