This story makes me hate people and love people all in the same breath. Some people did something absolutely terrible to a defenseless animal. But a group of Minnesota police officers did the right thing and were able to help the animal involved.

This is how police officers should do their jobs. They could have easily said "eh, the animal isn't my job, my job was to catch the people in the stolen vehicle". But they did the right thing, they did the thing that all police officers should do and see if they could find this animal and get it the help it needed.

Heads up, I'll be sharing some of the photos of the rescue of the puppy. There's nothing super gross like open wounds or anything, but just so you know what to expect.

Minnesota Police Save Puppy

Ramsey County police were pursuing a stolen vehicle at about 11 PM Monday night. In their Facebook post recounting the chase, they said that they believed, from a 911 call, that the suspects had just shot someone and wouldn't stop the car. During the chase, in which they were driving the wrong way on I-694, the passenger side door opened and something white was thrown out into on-coming traffic.

The pursuit continued and eventually police were able to stop them. "Two suspects fled and two suspects remained in the vehicle. As it turned out, the suspects made a false 911 call; no one was shot." But what was that white thing that was thrown from the vehicle?

They were able to review the footage and figure out that the white thing was a puppy. Ahhh that just hurts my heart that a puppy, or any animal for that matter, would be thrown out of a moving vehicle.

The next morning, police went back to see if they could find the puppy and thankfully they did. He had somehow made his way through traffic and was hiding in the snow. They took him to the emergency vet where they found out that he had a broken leg and "other injuries, but is expected to survive." Thank goodness!

In the below picture, you may spot a pizza box. That's because they even went to the bother to have a piece of pizza there for the puppy to keep him calm. How sweet!

Right now, the puppy, which they've named Taho, is being taken care of by one of the Ramsey County Sheriff's employees. They don't say this for sure in the post but I would assume they'll be looking for his owner, if not now, in the near future once he's doing better.
