Minnesota Native Opens For George Strait At U.S. Bank Stadium
Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If you were at George Strait's show last weekend, you know exactly what I am talking about!
George Strait played U.S. Bank Stadium over the weekend, along with Little Big Town and Chris Stapleton. Caitlyn Smith kicked off the entire show and was a late addition to the lineup.
The show ended up making history as the second largest show at the venue ever. U.S. Bank says 51,030 people attended the show. The only time more people have attended a show there was when Garth Brooks was in town back in 2019.
The feat was even more incredible considering the show had been postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was supposed to happen over the summer of 2020 so eager fans had over a year to wait.
It is a night everyone who attended will remember for awhile, especially opener Caitlyn Smith. She is from Cannon Falls, Minnesota and still spends quite a bit of time here. Now, she can say she played the stadium in her home state for one of the biggest artists in country music.
She shared her excitement not once but twice on her social media pages after the show, along with an amazing series of photos from her set at the show. Check out her photos, courtesy of her Instagram page:
As you can see, she is speechless about the fact that she got to open for country music royalty in the state she calls home. What an incredible full circle moment! On social media a few days later, she called the experience the most fun show she's ever played.
Caitlyn is slowly becoming a star in country music. She's been quietly making a name for herself for some time now in the industry but her star is rising thanks to a song she has that is climbing the charts! It is a duet with Old Dominion called "I Can't" and it is becoming a hit.
