Well, this is interesting. A new study just named the states where people have the highest income, along with the states that have the lowest and everywhere in between.
The study was put out by WalletHub on Tuesday (June 3rd), and the results of the study will definitely surprise you.

Why? Because Minnesota made a big splash in this study. The study was done to see how people all across the country are faring right now.
For reference, according to WalletHub, the average salary across the country is about $81,000 bucks right now.
How Did WalletHub Come Up With The Findings Of This Study?
In simple terms, analysts looked at three key factors, including the average income of the top five percent, the average income of the bottom twenty percent and the median income for all residents.

The average annual income of the top five percent is weighted twice here, so it carries a little bit more weight.
Minnesota Among States With The Highest Income
Minnesota came in number seven here, meaning it is one of the top ten states where people have the highest income. The average income of the top five percent is about $486,764. This is adjusted for the cost of living.

As for the average median income, also adjusted for cost of living, that would be $89,434 bucks. The average income of the bottom twenty percent is around $20,616 dollars.
The Top Three & Bottom Three States In This Study
Virginia, New Jersey and New York are the states with the highest incomes, while Mississippi, New Mexico and West Virginia are the bottom three. This really makes ya think, that's for sure.
