Minnesota DNR Responds to One Very Unusual Deer Call
Well, this isn't something that you see every day. Deer always seem to be getting into trouble. Whether they are crashing into a house, getting stuck in a hammock, or darting across a highway, they can be kind of clumsy.
A Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Enforcement Officer received a call regarding a white-tailed deer with a water softener bag on its head. According to the CO report, it happened in the Bagley, Minnesota area.
When Conservation Officer Brady Manteufel arrived, he found the deer walking around in circles in a field, with the bag over its head. He approached the deer and was able to remove the bag. The deer then took off like a bullet.
I did some digging and found the incident reported in the weekly conservation officer reports. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources posts the reports each Thursday on its website. You can find all sorts of interesting information about hunting and fishing conditions, and more insight into the seasons.
A call for a deer that had a water softener salt bag covering its head and neck was addressed. The deer was fatigued, could not see, and was walking in circles in a field. CO Manteufel, with the help of the public, was able to walk right up to it and remove the bag; the deer ran off and appeared ok.
Fortunately, the deer seemed to be unscathed by the ordeal. I wonder what was going through its head as it walked around in the dark.
