Minneapolis Metro Transit Extending Service For Taylor Swift Concerts

As anticipation grows for Taylor Swift's upcoming concerts at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, there had also been growing anxiety by many Swifties on whether they'd have to leave early to ensure they had a ride after the show.

Metro Transit service in Minneapolis had initially said they couldn't extend service on June 23 or June 24, meaning the last trains would leave U.S. Bank Stadium around 11:30 p.m. That is about when the Taylor Swift shows would wrap up, so train-riding attendees would have to leave the concert early to get a ride.

This week, however, Metro Transit had a change of heart and they will now offer routes on both Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24, that will leave downtown past 1:00 a.m. They shared the good news on their website.

Due to expected high demand, additional light rail and/or bus service will be provided after the Taylor Swift concerts. Several bus routes exit downtown Minneapolis past 1 a.m., including the METRO D Line. The METRO Blue Line also has northbound trips that operate past midnight, which can be used to access the ABC Ramps near Target Field.

Both the METRO Blue and Green lines drop off right outside the stadium doors. Trips operate every 15 minutes throughout the day.

If you are taking the METRO Blue Line, you can park for free at the 30th Avenue and Fort Snelling stations.

Many bus routes connect to the METRO Green Line. You can start your trip on those routes or METRO A Line and transfer for free to the Green Line for service to U.S. Bank Stadium Station.

With Taylor Swift, Pride events, and more taking place this weekend, it will be a very busy weekend in downtown Minneapolis and everyone in the area should be aware of the following street closures:

• Block party: From 9 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, Ninth Street between Hennepin and Hawthorne avenues will be closed for the Pride Block Party at the Saloon.
• Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour: Chicago Avenue between Fourth and Sixth Streets is closed from 11 a.m. until an hour after the concert ends. Fourth Street is closed between Park Avenue and Norm McGrew Place from 2:30 p.m. until an hour after the concert ends. These closures will occur on both nights.
• Pride Parade and run: From 7:00 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m. Sunday, Hennepin Avenue is closed from Washington Avenue to 16th Street for the Rainbow Run 5K My Way and the Twin Cities LGBTQ+ Pride March.
• Warehouse District Live – Every weekend throughout the summer, one block of First Avenue, from Fifth Street to Sixth Street, is closed to motor vehicles beginning at 9 a.m. Fridays to create additional space for foot traffic, food trucks, and portable restrooms. The block reopens to traffic by 10 a.m. Sundays.
