This might come as a bit of a shock to you! A Wisconsin city was named one of the happiest in the entire country. WalletHub released a new study on Tuesday (February 27th), listing the happiest cities in the U.S.

I am not saying that a city in Wisconsin being happy is surprising. However, when it comes to Wisconsin, it seems like these types of studies do not work in their favor! Milwaukee, for example, has been named one of the most dangerous cities in the country recently by the FBI, and one of the most bed bug infested in late 2023.

However, it looks like things are looking up! Madison was just named the fourth happiest city in the entire country.

What Makes Madison So Happy?

To get to the bottom of the happiest places in the country, WalletHub looked at a variety of factors, including the following:

  • Depression rates
  • Adequate sleep rate
  • Sports participation rate
  • Suicide rate
  • Work hours
  • Income growth
  • Separation & divorce rates

Apparently, Madison residents get pretty good sleep, coming in at number two in the 'adequate sleep rate' category. Maybe I should consider a move to get a good night of sleep. Ha!

The Wisconsin city also scored high when it came to physical and emotional wellbeing, and ranked well when it came to community and environment.

What About Minnesota?

Minneapolis did make the list and not too far behind! Minneapolis came in at number thirteen, which isn't too bad when you consider the list consists of the top 182 cities in the United States.

St. Paul also cracked the top fifty. I am all for Minnesota and Wisconsin making this list, especially when both has cities high on the list. You have to love to see it.
