Here’s When Lincoln Park’s New Taco Shop Plans To Open

Warning: just reading this story will make you hungry. The good news is that we will be able to feast on these delicious tacos soon enough.

In case you didn't know, a brand new taco shop is opening up in Duluth's Lincoln Park area. The spot is called Hungry Hippie Tacos and it is already a huge favorite in Northern Minnesota thanks to their lone location in Grand Marais.

I had heard about Hungry Hippie Tacos before and was ecstatic when I learned that they were opening a Duluth location! Their specialty is the fry bread taco, which features a special shell for the tacos that you won't find anywhere else.

Their menu looks absolutely delicious. It is filled with specialty tacos, like apple smoked pork tacos, spiced ground beef and salsa roasted chicken. The spot also has other Mexican favorites like quesadillas and burritos. Yum!

Now, they have their eyes set on Duluth. When they first announced news of the new location over the summer, they said they were hoping to open in January of 2022. I reached out to them via Facebook to see if this was still the case.

They responded and said they were hoping to start building soon but are waiting for the city to approve their plans before they can move forward. They said they have their fingers crossed for an opening date sometime in March but that could change depending on when they can start building.

Once they are able to start building, they say it will take about ten to twelve weeks to complete the project. The spot is located at 1810 West Superior Street near several Lincoln Park hot spots. It is located near Bent Paddle and the new Enger Lofts.

I can definitely say that it will be worth the wait, as the tacos look amazing. If you still can't quite picture where the spot is located, it is going to be in place of the old Westside Pet Clinic. Below is a rendering of what the new spot will look like:

As mentioned, Hungry Hippie Tacos already has one location in Grand Marais. You can find them at 15 West Highway 61.

We had another taco shop open up in the area this year. A spot called Tacos, Tacos, Tacos opened in downtown Duluth. They are a taqueria that is located at 107 East Superior Street. Their menu includes grilled cactus, beef tongue and al pastor.

There used to be a taco shop in Lincoln Park called Taco Arcada. It was a taco shop with arcade games but unfortunately, it closed down at the end of 2019.
